I think I have always loved love, romantic, happy and rhyming poems. I hate it when a poem is so long and the the last two lines are what the author is trying to say. I just like it when it is short, sweet and to the plot but, in a cute and conclusive way. What I mean by a cute way as in a way that will keep the reader keep thinking of the poem even after they read it. I think I like romantic poems and poems that are straight out because I am the type of person that likes things being straight out to me. I don't like reading something that keeps on repeating  itself until the end. Also I am as well at times the romantic type because I like happy endings were everyone gets what they want and I love cute saying like"You are the only one who holds the key to my heart" or things like that. I as well think it is because I truly love Twilight so maybe because I am so attracted to stories of love I like reading about it so much. To me poetry has to be honest and direct like the Yana said. The best poetry is the poetry that is written from the heart. This helps other readers relate to the poem and feel like they are in the speaker's shoes.

*****The Quiet World******

In an effort to get people to look
into each other's eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn't respond,
I know she's used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

*****
When you love a person you will do many things to make them comfortable. After reading the poem "The Quiet World" by "Jeffrey McDaniel" I think the idea of the poem is about 2 lovers who are in a long distance relationship and in the government that they have it provides exactly one hundred and sixty seven words to say in a day. The female on the other hand, finished all her words so the male decided to use up his 32 words he left to tell her I love you. I as well think that the speaker is male man who works in a restaurant this is best portrayed when the speaker says "When the phone rings, I put it to my ear without saying hello. In the restaurant. I point at chicken noodle soup." this bests shows how the male man doesn't say hello and just points to the soup so he can save his words that he has to talk to the one his lover. Also when in the poem the speaker says "the government has decided, to allot each person exactly one hundred and sixty-seven words, per day." this as well best shows how the government there just provides each person 167 words. What makes me think that the female who is in a long distance relationship with the speaker who is a male who works in restaurant is best proven when the speaker says "Late at night, I call my long distance lover, proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.I saved the rest for you." these stanzas best shows how at night the male speaker decides to speak with his lover and tell her about he only used 59 words and left the rest for him to talk to her. This tells me that the male speaker must really love his long distance lover because he saved her more than half of the words he has left. Also in the last stanza when the speaker says "When she doesn't respond, I know she's used up all her words,  so I slowly whisper I love you thirty-two and a third times. After that, we just sit on the line and listen to each other breathe." this as well best proves how the speaker loves his lover a lot and because he noticed she finished all her words he used all the words he has left to tell her I love you instead of fighting with her and when he was done he and his lover just breathed. I think the tone of the speaker in the beginning is indigent but in a calm way and the middle and end become very thankful, lighthearted and jovial when he is talking about his lover I think in the beginning he seems to be indignant but calm because the speaker's use of diction such as "in, effort, words, government and appease show that the speaker and the poem's tone and mood is indignant but at the same time the speaker is calm and doesn't argue. At the end as well when he tells his lover I love you with all his left over words he is thankful to speak to her even though she finished all her words. The poem was very romantic and as well about a couple who are in love and how the male  lover sacrifices all his words to tell his lover that he loves her and patiently at the end breaths back and forth to her. I love how the poem at the end is very sweet how the male lover sacrifices his words for his lover to tell her I love you.

Do You Have Any Advice For Those of Us Just Starting Out?"

Ron Koertge

Give up sitting dutifully at your desk. Leave
your house or apartment. Go out into the world.

It's all right to carry a notebook but a cheap
one is best, with pages the color of weak tea
and on the front a kitten or a space ship.

Avoid any enclosed space where more than
three people are wearing turtlenecks. Beware
any snow-covered chalet with deer tracks
across the muffled tennis courts.

Not surprisingly, libraries are a good place to write.
And the perfect place in a library is near an aisle
where a child a year or two old is playing as his
mother browses the ranks of the dead.

Often he will pull books from the bottom shelf.
The title, the author's name, the brooding photo
on the flap mean nothing. Red book on black, gray
book on brown, he builds a tower. And the higher
it gets, the wider he grins.

You who asked for advice, listen: When the tower
falls, be like that child. Laugh so loud everybody
in the world frowns and says, "Shhhh."

Then start again.

Do you ever have any advice for those of us just starting out?

When life brings you down never give up. After reading the poem ,"Do you have any advice for those of us just starting out?" by "Ron Koertge" the idea of the poem is about determination and never giving up even if life brings you down. I believe this is the idea because in the poem the speaker explains how instead of being trapped at home or being miserable from an issue go out into the world and explore, this is best portrayed when the speaker says"Give up sitting dutifully at your desk. Leave your house or apartment. Go out into the world."Also the speaker's tone in these lines as well seem advising, peaceful, warm and friendly. I believe this because with the speakers use of diction such as, give up,leave and go the are more like peaceful and advising words. It seems to be as if the speaker has experienced the same issue of giving up and is advising the reader. Also when the speaker says "it's all right to carry a notebook but a cheap one is best, with pages the color of weak tea and on the front a kitten or a space ship."the speaker's tone is assuring and friendly by the speaker explains it's OK to go out into the world with a notebook of your choice even if it has a tea stain or spaceship. The speaker's tone in the beginning and the end are both the same:advising, assuring and peaceful because at the beginning the speaker gives some advice to the reader while at the end the speaker tries to send out an important message to the reader of determination and never giving up even if life brings you down. This is best portrayed when the speaker says "You who asked for advice, listen: When the tower falls, be like that child. Laugh so loud everybody in the world frowns and says, "Shhhh." Then start again." this best illuminates how the speaker is trying to compare a child staking books then  falling and laughing at the end like the world being the books, the falling the issue and the child laughing the speaker. The speaker as well is trying to show how to never give up and this is best illuminated when the speaker skips a line and says "Then start again" meaning then begin a new chapter and keep trying and trying without giving up.(HOMEWORK:4/8/13)

The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew

My sister Kelly was paralyzed when she was 16. For the next 25 years she was totally dependent on others. Even though she got dealt a bad hand, she remained strong and dignified throughout her life. That is why she'll always be "The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew". Kelly, I know you're dancing in Heaven

In Loving Memory of Kelly Doe

She never got to dance,
Or go to her own Prom.
She never got the chance,
To forget where she came from.

She never got to kiss,
A man she idolized.
She never felt love's bliss,
'Cause she was paralyzed.

She never got to talk,
About love with a smile.
She never got to walk,
Down a Church's Aisle.

She never got to say,
Those precious words "I Do".
But she was far and away,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

She couldn't brush her hair,
Or put make up on her face.
She couldn't hold you dear,
Or give you a warm embrace.

She couldn't clasp her hands,
As if in the form of prayer.
She couldn't understand,
Why she was in a wheelchair.

She never showed her fears,
Or let you hear her cries.
She never showed the tears,
That fell down from her eyes.

She never looked for pity,
Or sympathy from you.
That's why she'll always be,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

Through our lives we loose many important people who are very inspirational to us, like in the poem "The Strongest girl I ever knew" by "Ronnie Doe" the speaker looses her sister who was paralyzed ever since she was 16 and she was a big role model to the speaker. I think the main idea is about a girl who was paralyzed but manged to live her life with lots of struggles and to the speaker she was considered the strongest girl she ever knew.  This is best portrayed when in the poem the speaker says "She never got to dance, Or go to her own Prom. She never got the chance, To forget where she came from. She never got to kiss, A man she idolized. She never felt love's bliss, 'Cause she was paralyzed. She never got to talk, About love with a smile. She never got to walk, Down a Church's Aisle. She never got to say, Those precious words "I Do". But she was far and away, The strongest girl I ever knew." these stanzas best prove that the speaker is talking about a female girl who is paralyzed and was never able to go to go to prom, kiss the man she loved, get married, talk and smile. These things are some things girl's die to do and wish for but, because the girl in he poem was paralyzed she never got to do these actions. These stanzas best portray that the speaker is talking about a young girl who is paralyzed and remained strong without being able to do all these actions. Also when the speaker says "She never showed her fears, Or let you hear her cries. She never showed the tears, That fell down from her eyes. She never looked for pity, Or sympathy from you. That's why she'll always be, The strongest girl I ever knew." this best portrays how the paralyzed young girl the speaker is talking about remained strong by not crying in front of others, showing she is feared and never tried to look pity full. I as well agree with the speaker that her sister is ha strong girl because she hid herself when she felt weak and would never try to show others that she was weak. She as well tried to be positive instead of being u[set over things she never has done like going to prom. I think the mood of the poem's tone is about bravery because the speaker's use of diction best shows how the poem is about bravery. The words such as "never, you, she'll, strongest ,girl, knew, let and couldn't best shows some bravery of the the person the speaker is talking about.(HOMEWORK:4/5/13)
Kisses For You...
I once heard these words in a song;
'You must remember this...a kiss is
just a kiss...a sigh is just a sigh, ' etc.

With you...nothing...nothing, could be
further from the truth.

Your kiss, is a ride among the stars,
a shower of moon beams and a
sailboat ride, in the Garden Of Eden.

Kissing you...is an out of body experience,
a transport to paradise and a creation
of ultimate passion and joy.

Kissing, every part of who you are, is
truly a banquet of love.

Let me feast of your love and of your lips,
for I am in love with you. Let me always
kiss your mouth...eyes...all of you.

Let us ride the feathers of angels, through
starlit nights-holding...kissing, for now...
and evermore.

Your kiss...touch...embrace, has captured
my heart...my very soul.

I send you this kiss...for the lips
I can not do without.

Kisses for you
Joe Fazio
**
After reading the poem "Kisses for you" by" Joe Fazio" is about a man the poet most likely writing how much he enjoys kissing the female he adores. He explains that kissing her is like being in a fantasy and that he loves her a lot. This is best portrayed when the speaker in the poem says "Kissing you...is an out of body experience,a transport to paradise and a creation, of ultimate passion and joy" this best portrays how the speaker explains how when he kisses the female girl he feels like he is in paradise and his  whole body feels wonderful emotions. When the speaker says "Let me feast of your love and of your lips, for I am in love with you. Let me always, kiss your mouth...eyes...all of you." this best portrays that he loves the female a lot and loves to kiss her.He wants to show his love for his lover by kissing her. He as well says "i'm in love with you". I am guessing the speaker is the male poet because usually male speakers are the ones who write about a girl's lips and eyes but, it is not positive so the speaker might be a she as well. The speakers tone and mood as well seems to be full of desire, romance and fulfillment because the speaker is in love with a girl/boy and he/she explains to he/she loves to kiss he/she's lips and that he/she is in love with he/she. To as well prove that the speaker is in love with the girl/boy is when the speaker says "Your kiss...touch...embrace, has captured, my heart...my very soul." this lastly illuminates how much the speaker as well loves the he/she.I as well admire how the poet wrote the words kiss in the beginning as the letter k that was very creative.(HOMEWORK 4/4/13)

04 Tongues Made Of Glass

how much

04 Tongues Made Of Glass

*****
I really don't know what to say about this poem. WOW,this poem is so deep and amazing!. After reading the poem" 04 Tongues Made Of Glass" by "Shaun Shane" I am truly mesmerized with this poets words. I think the speaker is trying to say that if our tongues was made of glass  this would cause us to watch our words more when we speak. What this means is like glass how it hurts us and scratches us the speaker compares a tongue to glass and that if it was made of glass we wouldn't say bad language or hurtful words because when we try to we will hurt ourselves. But, since our tongues isn't made of glass when we say hurtful or inappropriate language we don't feel how much it hurts to another person or how bad it actually is. This reminds me of the world now, people curse,do drugs and insult others like drinking water. They don't care about peoples feelings and it is like they just sprinkle bad language over other people. In the poem the speaker says "if only, our tongues, were made, of glass" this best illuminates how the speaker who is a he/she is saying that if our tongues were composed of glass. This lines mood and tone as well is hopeful by the speaker is trying to imagine our tongues being from glass and as well the mood is questionable kind of like when the speaker says "if" like he is imagining or thinking. Also when the he/she speaker says at the end "how much, more careful, we would be, when we, speak" this best portrays that the speaker concludes that if our tongues were made of glass at the end it would hurt to say hurtful words and people would be more careful with what they say and the speaker concludes his thoughts that people would be more respectful. The tone of this poem and the speaker's mood as wells seems conclusive and hopeless because the speaker then just concludes his thoughts that people then would watch their language carefully. The poem as well because of the use of diction such as when, would, if and we sounds gloomy and hopeless.I love this poem a lot because the speaker sends a message to the reader in a short and deep way. He tries to send out  meaningful message the poet as to watch our words. I was really shocked after the speakers words and I kept thinking of all the ways I can compare the world to this poem.(HOMEWORK 4/4/13)

Someone kissed me

The fourth sequence in Dante’s Heaven is called ‘Love is a Babe’, a sequence of poems around Beatrice’s voice.

Someone kissed me

Someone kissed me ―
Is it blood or lipstick
on my cheek?

Was it a thought
brushed past me
or a moth’s wing

but there, those scarlet stains
on my skin, my white dress.
I walk the Lungarno

near the Ponte Sante Trinit
He's evaporated
Into the crowd

How shall I ever know him again
beyond this touch
and he so pure?

A kiss is a touch that sends your mind turn wild. After hearing the poem "Someone kissed me " by "Jan Kemp" I think the main idea is about the female speaker who got kissed by a random man who she never got to know who. I think this because  when I heard the poem the speaker says "Someone kissed me" which proves that a person kissed her. Also when you hear the poem the speaker says " I walk the Lungarno, near the Ponte Sante Trinit, He's evaporated, Into the crowd" this best illuminates how the female speaker walks in a crowd looking for the person who kissed her but, he eventually runs in a crowd and she never gets to spot him. I also figured out the speaker is a female because the speaker says "He's evaporated"  which best portrays the one who kissed her is a male. I think that the tone of the poem is kind of happy, dreamy and at the same time  defeated. I believe this because in the poem when the speaker says "Was it a thought, brushed past me,or a moth’s wing" this best portrays that the poem is kind of dreamy and happy because the  female speaker explains her feelings as a moth who touched her. I can compare this feeling to a feather touch. Also at the same time I think that the poem is kind of defeated because at the end of the poem the female speaker says"How shall I ever know him again, beyond this touch, and he so pure?" when the speaker Beatrice says this poem her tone seem to be defeated when she says this and when you read these lines over the speaker as well feels  hopeless because the female speaker isn't sure if she will ever meet the one who kissed her on her cheek again.(HOMEWORK 4/4/13)
