The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew

My sister Kelly was paralyzed when she was 16. For the next 25 years she was totally dependent on others. Even though she got dealt a bad hand, she remained strong and dignified throughout her life. That is why she'll always be "The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew". Kelly, I know you're dancing in Heaven

In Loving Memory of Kelly Doe

She never got to dance,
Or go to her own Prom.
She never got the chance,
To forget where she came from.

She never got to kiss,
A man she idolized.
She never felt love's bliss,
'Cause she was paralyzed.

She never got to talk,
About love with a smile.
She never got to walk,
Down a Church's Aisle.

She never got to say,
Those precious words "I Do".
But she was far and away,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

She couldn't brush her hair,
Or put make up on her face.
She couldn't hold you dear,
Or give you a warm embrace.

She couldn't clasp her hands,
As if in the form of prayer.
She couldn't understand,
Why she was in a wheelchair.

She never showed her fears,
Or let you hear her cries.
She never showed the tears,
That fell down from her eyes.

She never looked for pity,
Or sympathy from you.
That's why she'll always be,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

Through our lives we loose many important people who are very inspirational to us, like in the poem "The Strongest girl I ever knew" by "Ronnie Doe" the speaker looses her sister who was paralyzed ever since she was 16 and she was a big role model to the speaker. I think the main idea is about a girl who was paralyzed but manged to live her life with lots of struggles and to the speaker she was considered the strongest girl she ever knew.  This is best portrayed when in the poem the speaker says "She never got to dance, Or go to her own Prom. She never got the chance, To forget where she came from. She never got to kiss, A man she idolized. She never felt love's bliss, 'Cause she was paralyzed. She never got to talk, About love with a smile. She never got to walk, Down a Church's Aisle. She never got to say, Those precious words "I Do". But she was far and away, The strongest girl I ever knew." these stanzas best prove that the speaker is talking about a female girl who is paralyzed and was never able to go to go to prom, kiss the man she loved, get married, talk and smile. These things are some things girl's die to do and wish for but, because the girl in he poem was paralyzed she never got to do these actions. These stanzas best portray that the speaker is talking about a young girl who is paralyzed and remained strong without being able to do all these actions. Also when the speaker says "She never showed her fears, Or let you hear her cries. She never showed the tears, That fell down from her eyes. She never looked for pity, Or sympathy from you. That's why she'll always be, The strongest girl I ever knew." this best portrays how the paralyzed young girl the speaker is talking about remained strong by not crying in front of others, showing she is feared and never tried to look pity full. I as well agree with the speaker that her sister is ha strong girl because she hid herself when she felt weak and would never try to show others that she was weak. She as well tried to be positive instead of being u[set over things she never has done like going to prom. I think the mood of the poem's tone is about bravery because the speaker's use of diction best shows how the poem is about bravery. The words such as "never, you, she'll, strongest ,girl, knew, let and couldn't best shows some bravery of the the person the speaker is talking about.(HOMEWORK:4/5/13)
